Statement of Faith
I. The Scriptures - We believe that the Bible is the Word of God. It is verbally inspired by Him and preserved in the King James Bible 1611. It is infallible and complete. The Bible is our supreme authority for faith and practice. (II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:20-21)
II. The Godhead - We believe that the Godhead eternally exists in three persons: the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit. These three are one God, having exactly the same nature, attributes and perfections. Each is worthy of exactly the same honor, confidence and obedience. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; II Corinthians 13:14)
III. The Person and Work Of the Holy Spirit - We believe that the Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Trinity. He is co-equal in every aspect relative to divine attributes with the other two persons of the Godhead. He indwells every child of God. He is the source of all power and all acceptable worship and services. He will never depart from the feeblest of believers and is ever present to testify of Christ. (John 14:16-17; 16:7-15; I Corinthians 6:19; 12:13)
IV. The Person and Work Of Jesus Christ - We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. He came into this world to manifest God to man, fulfilling prophecy and became the Redeemer of the lost world. He was born of a virgin, received a human body and had a sinless nature. (Luke 1:30-35; John 1:1-2; Philippians 2:5-8) We believe that He died on the cross of Calvary for our sins, that He rose the third day from the dead in the same body, though glorified, in which He had lived and died. (Matthew 28:1-10; Mark 16:1-4; II Corinthians 15:3-4) We believe that He will literally return a second time. (John 4:2-3)
V. The Depravity Of Man - We believe that man was originally and immediately created in the image and in the likeness of God. However, as a result of Adam’s sin, man inherited a sinful nature. He is totally affected and corrupted by sin and is separated from God and is essentially evil. Apart from divine grace, he is spiritually dead. This has been passed down to the entire human race, with Jesus Christ being the only exception. (Genesis 1:26; 2:17; 3:1-6; 6:5; Psalm 51:5; Jeremiah 17:9; Romans 3:10, 23; 5:12-19; I John 3:8)
VI. Salvation - We believe that salvation is a free gift offered to man by God. Its basis is the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Man receives this free gift of eternal life by realizing his sinful condition, believing that Jesus Christ died for his sins and then receiving Him as his own personal Saviour. Man in no way can ever work his way to Heaven. Salvation is based solely on the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary by the grace of God. That precious blood of Jesus Christ cleanses from all sin anyone who accepts God’s free gift. (John 3:16; 5:24; Acts 13:39; 16:31; Romans 10:9-10; II Corinthians 5:21; Ephesians 2:8-9)
VII. Eternal Security - We believe that once a person has truly been born again of the Spirit of God, that person is saved forever. Once a person is saved, he is always saved and can in no way lose his salvation. God’s free gift is eternal. (John 3:16; 10:28-29; Colossians 3:3; Hebrews 7:25; Jude 24) Anything less than this would tell us that Jesus did not care for our sin Himself.
VIII. Satan - We believe that Satan is a created being and actually exists having a personality. Initially, he was called Lucifer and held the highest angelic position in Heaven. He is the “god of this world” and the enemy of God and the Christian. Sin originated with him in Heaven, and he is the only one who tempted Eve in the garden. He is the author of all deception. He will be ultimately cast into the Lake of Fire and suffer eternal punishment. (Genesis 3:1-6; Isaiah 14:12-17; Ezekiel 28:12-19; Revelation 20:10)
IX. Separation - We believe that all born-again Christians have a personal responsibility before God to live in such a manner as not to bring reproach upon Jesus Christ. He should separate from all manner and appearance of evil and all religious apostasy. Though living in the world, Christians are not to be associated or identified with the world. (Romans 12:1-2; 14:13; II Corinthians 6:14-17; II Timothy 3:1-5; I John 2:15-17; II John 9:10)
